We Are Prepared for Next Gen by Crash Course in Toyota Supra History

While we wait for the new model, brush up on Supra lineage.

The Supra car is the one you will see almost everywhere. It can be seen in movies, video games, online, and in real life. Although it hasn’t been available for sale in over 15 years, there’s still a lot of people who think about buying one or driving one. Toyota was toying with the idea of bringing it back from early 2014, when it revealed the FT-1 concept. But it wasn’t until recently that the “Supra” moniker was finally confirmed.

Fans from around the globe are eager to see the production car after the GR Supra racing concept for Gran Turismo Sport, and the Supra prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We will need to wait for the fifth-generation Supra (A90) to be finished.

The Cars Evolution channel of YouTube has decided to take a look at the Supra’s rearview and offer a brief history. The story begins at the beginning of the 1970s, when the Celica A40 model was introduced. The Supra became a stand-alone model in 1986, with the launch the A70 third-generation car.

The Supra’s power gained with every generation. It started with just over 100 horsepower and then reached 320 horsepower for its fourth generation (A80). The new Supra will offer a rumored 335 horsepower from a turbocharged six cylinder 3.0-liter engine, BMW origins.

You can see the virtual parade and know that the Supra’s next-gen Supra will have big shoes to fill. The A90 should be a worthy successor, living up to the hype.
