The Infiniti QX55 crossover coupe pays homage to the original generation FX.
when Nissan And Toyota Their brands were launched into the highly competitive luxury car market. It was only 30 years ago. Infiniti And Lexus He jumped into the auto scene, faced with a skeptical core of journalists and some amused future competitors. Over the next 30 years, the media’s skepticism turned into praise and the amusement of the German luxury automakers became a constant state of red alert.
Infiniti, unlike Lexus has been more celebratory about this anniversary than Lexus. Infiniti will be showing the 30th Anniversary Edition of their current lineup in Infiniti’s showroom. But the cherry on the cake is the announcement that Infiniti will introduce five new cars within the next three years. Motor1.com was able to see the Infiniti QX55, the first of the new cars.
The Infiniti QX55 midsize crossover coupe is stunning. It pays homage to Infiniti’s first generation Infiniti FX car, which was a success story for Infiniti in 2003. Infiniti QX55’s design is more elegant than most crossover coupes. It begins the descent of its roofline later in its travel and it’s closer to the Cpillar. The rear deck retains a sense of a small deck. Infiniti also saved valuable headroom for rear seats passengers and probably some cargo space by doing this. The crossover’s upper line is curvier than the Q8’s, and shows a curvier trajectory.
This front end is an evolution from the current Infiniti model. It looks bolder, more luxurious, and elegant while still maintaining its familiar appearance. The rear end is cleaner and more modern that Infiniti’s current midsize crossovers. It also features a beautiful almost fluid rendition of the INFINITI lettering, which is possible because there is no license plate housing in its trunk lid. Although the QX55 is not intended to be an all-terrain vehicle, its design does not preclude it from being one. However, we know that the marketing department will make sure this happens at launch. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the cabin.
Infiniti made it impossible for us to take photos of the gorgeous matte gray pre-production unit. So, what you are reading is a memory recollection. We won’t see this car again until next year. We are confident that this gorgeous crossover coupe will be as popular with Infiniti’s customers as the FX 17 years ago.
