We Wouldn't Say No to A BMW Z4 M40i Shooting Breeze

We don’t know the answer, but we do not have to be asked.

We are certain that BMW does not plan to introduce additional models based upon the Z4. Although the soft-top cabrio will continue to be the brand’s niche offering, we cannot help but dream of something else.

Virtual drawings allow imagination to fly high, and this rendering proves it. This is a shot brake version of the Z4 that our friend XTomi, from Hungary, has created. The car is almost identical to the original, except for the B-pillar and the front bumper. However, the back features a mix of a gently sloping roofline with a classic hatch opening.

The idea isn’t new. In fact, in the 1990s BMW offered the Z3 in both a convertible and a coupe version. Although the Z3 was described as a coupe by BMW, it had identical roof and rear ends. Even the angle of its rear window looks almost identical. Although it was a rare sight, it was a striking vehicle from a major manufacturer.

The same designer also presented a virtual version of the new Z4 earlier this month. The Z4 coupe is a classic two-door coupe with short rooflines and overhangs. The coupe and the shooting brake are almost certain to remain virtual drawings.

If you want a Z4 with hardtop, the new Toyota Supra is available. It will be made available in production form in the coming months. It will draw a lot of inspiration from the Z4, including its powertrains, platform, and engine. They will both be constructed in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr. However, the Bavarian company claims that the Z4 is more unique than the Supra.
