Why Do You Need a Truck? VW Passat Driver Places a Sofa in the Backseat

Surprise, surprise! He was pulled over by police and given a fine.

You don’t have to pay much money to have your sofa delivered home. But, you could face a heavy fine if it is illegally transported in your car. This is probably what the Volkswagen Passat B6 driver thought when he packed the sofa in the backseat and drove it home.

It took place earlier in the week in Galati Romania. The footage that was sent to news channel Digi24, was taken by the front passenger from a car just behind the Passat. In its day, the D-segment saloon measured 71.7 inches (1.820 mm) in width. It’s not big enough to carry a large sofa in the backseat, however.

The police noticed that the VW was wider than the full-size Phaeton luxury sedan. The police pulled the driver over immediately and gave him a $210 fine. This is more than he would have paid for transport costs.

The Passat owner may regret not purchasing a B6 Variant, or hiring a truck driver to transport his new sofa home. After noticing signs of deterioration, the police took his driver’s licence. The police gave him a temporary piece of paper that he could use for 15 days.

Although we have seen worse crimes, it is not an excuse for you to stuff a couch in the back and block your rear view. The Passat’s rear doors increase in width, so there is the risk of someone bumping into you.
