The cute Italian city car, despite being called the “New Fiat 500”, is essentially a facelift of an 8-year old model. It has seen 1,800 design changes. However, most of these are hard to spot. The most significant changes include a new design for the headlights, which have a more dynamic slant. There are also new LED daytime running lights. The trapezoidal nose is more prominent due to the more prominent ribbing. It also comes with chrome whiskers that flank the Fiat badge. The Lounge version has chrome-effect buttons and more chrome on the lower grille.
Fiat has changed the shape of the taillights to have a ring-shaped design with body-colored centers. The fog and reverse lights were moved to the edges by Fiat, which can be ordered in chrome or black depending on the trim.
The side profile has been slightly reshaped to tilt the beltline towards the front. New 15- and 16 inch alloy wheels have also been installed and are available in a variety of designs. You can paint the body in new Glam Coral or Avantgarde Bordeaux colors, and you also have options for black and yellow or black and red combinations.
The most significant change inside is the introduction of Uconnect infotainment, which features a 5-inch touchscreen display on the Lounge model. The Fiat 500 Lounge also features a new steering wheel and buttons. You can also order the optional 7-inch TFT display in your instrument cluster if you choose the Fiat 500 Lounge. The new seats are more comfortable and offer more upholstery options. They also relocated the 12V power socket and made some changes to the center console. Fiat also added sound-deadening material to the firewall and wheelhouse, resulting in a more peaceful and comfortable cabin.
The Euro 6-compliant engines can be found in the 500. They work with 5- or 6-speed manual transmissions, and a Dualogic roboticized gearbox. It will come with a TwinAir TwinAir with 85 and 105 horsepower, and a 69-bhp 1.2 liter engine. The range will also include an eco version (1.2-liter) and a turbodiesel (1.3-liter 16v Multijet II turbodiesel) rated at 95 horsepower.
The Fiat 500 facelifted will be on sale this fall.
