It is almost as dark as Vantablack paint, which is used in aerospace.
Based on their sales volume, white, grey, and black are the most popular car colors worldwide. If you are looking for the darkest black paint job in the world, you should look to Japan, specifically Koyo Orient Japan’s Musou Black.
The Musou Black acrylic paint is considered to be the blackest water-based paint. The video above shows a Porsche 911 painted with the Musou Black paint. Pit One used the help of KoyoOrient.
The uber-black color of the Musou Black paint is due to its ability to reflect 0.6 percent of the light and absorb the rest. It almost makes the coupe appear two-dimensional or shadowy by removing all details and creases. It’s hard to believe that this car can be driven at night.
This is not the first time that we have seen a Musou Black car. A Mitsubishi Lancer received the same paint job in December 2020. It’s just as bizarre to look at. Koyo Orient released the Musou Black paintjob in September 2020.
However, BMW introduced the darkest color, the Vantablack, before Koyo Orient. Vantablack paint is the darkestblack paint. It absorbs 99.96% of visible light. It is not available to the general public because it has many practical uses in the aerospace and defense industries.
Vantablack was featured in the BMW X6 at Frankfurt Motor Show. However, the idea was originally conceived by Vantablack maker Surrey Nano Systems in collaboration with creative agency Levitation 29 in order to hide the 2020 X6’s body details before its Frankfurt debut.
