This price is very strong considering other recent Yenko Camaro auction results.
Collectors adore Don Yenko’s modified Chevrolet Camaros. A rare coupe sold for $395,000.
The 1968 Yenko Camaro was one of 64 that were made in that year. Mecum says only 20 are still on the roads. It comes in stunning Fathom Blue, with white accents and black interior. But the real gem is underneath. The L72 427-cubic inch (7.0-liter), General Motors V8 produces 425 horsepower (317 Kilowatts) and can be paired with a four-speed manual. The back features a 12-bolt rear axle with 3.73 gearing, and GM’s Positraction limit-slip differential. When it’s time for this beast to be taken down, power disc brakes are there to help.

Mecum says that this car is an early rear-spoiler only model. The fiberglass hood was added by Yenko. The coupe was given a rotisserie restore and received a Gold Award at Camaro Nationals. This classic muscle car is a result of all the work.
Yenko’s Camaros were unique because he made muscle cars that Chevy couldn’t make from the factory. This strategy involved using GM’s Central Office Production Order system for the L72 V8 to be installed in the car. These engines weren’t readily available to the public. From the 1967-1969 model years, Yenko produced 201 of these vehicles.
A Yenko Camaro’s $395,000 profit is a great result. According to Sports Car Digest, Mecum sold a 1969 model for $330,000 in May 2017. The auction house also sold a 1968 car at $335,000 in November 2016. In May 2016, two units of 1969 were sold for $260,000 and $225,000, respectively.
