Ever wonder which electric car is the most popular in China. It’s not a Tesla. The Wuling Mini saw 395,451 deliveries last yea, almost tripling its 2020 result. The wallet-friendly model was the most popular EV in China, beating out the BYD Qin and the Tesla Model Y. To celebrate this success, and to ensure that demand continues to grow in 2022, Mini will be getting a special edition.

There are four versions of the Mini GameBoy Edition: Hurricane Phantom, Jungle Traveler and Star Rover. Each model has a unique exterior finish, a different wheelet, and unique trim. The special edition Mini EV models have new headlights with LED daytime running lamps and a modified front fascia that includes an LED strip connecting the light clusters.

The dimensions of the Mini EV GameBoy Edition have been slightly different to the standard model. The length of the Mini EV GameBoy edition has increased by 80mm to 2,997mm. While the height has decreased by 17mm to 1,604mm. The most significant upgrade is the new, more powerful electric motor that produces 41 horsepower (30 kilowatts) rather than the base 27-hp (20 kW) motor.

According to Chinese media, the car will be equipped with a 26.5 kWh battery. This will allow it to travel up to 174 miles (280 km) per the CLTC standard. The increase is significant as there are currently four options for electric cars that can provide an EV range between 75 and 105 miles (120- 170 km) without needing to recharge. The manufacturer has not yet confirmed the larger battery pack.

The standard version of the Wuling Mini EV can travel at a speed of 62 mph (100 km/h). The starting price for this new electric vehicle is $4,200. A fully-loaded model costs $5,700.
