It all starts with cosmetic upgrades. However, the Texas tuner can add more power to meet demand.

What is the first thing you think of when you think Hennessey? You’d be right if you thought of mega-powered V8 engine singing loud and proud ‘Murican horsepower’. John Hennessey has been tweaking cars for almost 30 years. If you’ve ever seen one of his creations, you know how subtle it is. Texas-based Hennessey Performance Engineering will soon tackle its first electric car project. Hennessey Porsche Taycan is here!

The HPE-tuned is technically a HPE-tuned Porsche It’s not yet here. These renderings show a future model the company will explore once the Taycan arrives in the U.S. next year. The model won’t see a performance boost, at least not immediately. Hennessey plans to offer initial aesthetic updates such as bodywork tweaks, cool wheels and interior upgrades. If customer demand is strong enough, the Taycan’s electric motor will be able to produce more power.

We completely get the baby steps. Hennessey is well-known for his raucous V8 power, so this is something totally different for the company. There is a market for EVs with better performance and, whether you like it or not electric motoring is the future.

John Hennessey stated that “we’ve been planning something with electrified cars for a while now,” in a press release regarding the new Taycan project. “We felt the new Porsche Taycan was a good platform to modify our first EV. Nearly all our clients still desire powerful, raw ICE engines. Some clients have started to add an electric vehicle to their fleet for daily driving duties. We don’t intend to reinvent the wheel on the electrified market. We just want it to roll a little faster, and cooler!”

It’s amazing that Hennessey, a company dedicated to ensuring an electric future where customization and absurd power are possible is our opinion. While loud engines and the smells of race fuel are part and parcel of car-crazy experiences, there is something to be said about instant torque and an unending powerband.
