Leno was filming alongside Rick Springfield, a ’80s rock icon, when the near-miss happened.
Jay Leno, a huge petrolhead and a passionate automotive enthusiast, is well-known. This passion was demonstrated in an unexpected way by the comedian, 70 years old, who walked in front of a Lexus IS300 driverless and rolled towards a beautiful 1963 Chevrolet Corvette restoration. It’s surprising, or is it? We’ll get to this later.
The Daily Mail shows how the customized Lexus moves forward after a man wearing a white shirt forgot to park it. Leno quickly steps in front of the cars and touches the hood. The white-shirted man jumps into action and reaches through the IS300’s window to park. Leno was not in danger as the car was moving very slowly. We can’t believe any serious car enthusiast wouldn’t do the same thing.
Although the video isn’t embeddable you can still see the entire saga here.
The white-shirted man is Rick Springfield, a ’80s rock singer. The Daily Mail reports that the couple were in Malibu, California filming for an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. This is where the surprise begins. The blue Corvette wasn’t Leno’s vehicle. This is Springfield’s pride and joy, so Leno was in the strange two-tone Lexus. It was either a new acquisition or something that was used for this segment, but we couldn’t find any information. It doesn’t fit Leno’s style.
Both men and machines were able to survive the day in any event. The rest of the story will probably be told on Jay Leno’s Garage.
