All the heavy hitters, from the 250 GTO to SF90 Stradale are here.
This evolution video is a refreshing experience. Ferrari is a brand that can match the performance of its front-engined GT car or mid-engined hypercar. Cars Evolution compiled this video that showcases the Prancing Horse’s best through the decades. It also includes interesting information about each model.
It all begins with the car that became the most expensive ever sold at auction. It was valued at $48.4million in August 2018. It was a stunning Ferrari 250 GTO with a 3.0-liter Colombo V12 engine that produced 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). This was in a time when cars with twice the power were commonplace. It’s also the oldest front-engined car on the list, with only 36 examples being built.
The journey moves quickly from there and all major players are included. Next up is the 288 GTO, which has its Group B roots, and then the F40. It’s amazing to see how similar these two iconic 1980’s supercars are. The F50 V12-powered Ferrari F50 was a less impressive but equally as amazing car. It marks the end to the “analog” Ferrari flagship.
2003 Ferrari Enzo was a breakthrough for the Prancing Horse. It also introduced computer-controlled systems that allow the driver to get the most out of the car. The LaFerrari made a leap in 2013 with its hybrid powertrain, delivering 963 horsepower (718 kw) and shuffled to the rear wheels. A bank of computers provides assistance with everything from launch control to stability management.
The SF90 Stradale is the final car in this evolution. This Ferrari will be the first to use a V8 instead of a F40. However, the plug-in hybrid powertrain will drive all four wheels and generate a total output of 986 horsepower (735), making it the most powerful Ferrari on the road.
