The Model S’s claimed 1.99 second 0-60 time doesn’t quite live up to its claims.

The Tesla Model S Plaid debut included a short track for testing the sedan’s acceleration. Brooks, Drag Times had already purchased the new super sedan and was present at the unveiling. He was able to ride along as a passenger on two laps of the circuit and captured the experience.

Brooks is impressed with the Model S Plaid’s acceleration, even for someone who spends a lot time at drag strip in ridiculously fast machines. Brooks smiles big as the force pulls him back into his seat.

Brooks checks the Plaid’s performance the second time around the course using the Dragy app. It can reach 60 miles per hour (96 km per hour) in 2.74 secs and covers an eighth mile in 6.63 secs at 98.04 mph (175.78 kph).

According to Tesla’s official specifications, the Plaid is capable of hitting 60 mph in just 1.99 seconds using a rollout. Although the Drag Times video’s time is slower than the Drag Times videos, it is worth noting that there are three people in this car which will have an impact on acceleration.

You can see the Model S Plaid’s electric motors in the front and rear. They produce a total of 1,020 horsepower (761 Kilowatts). You can reach speeds up to 200 mph (322 km/h), but you will need an optional package that includes different tires and wheels. It is estimated that the range will be 390 miles (628 km).

Brooks also tours the Model S’ redesigned interior. The most striking visual change is the new yoke-style steering wheels. The updated infotainment technology includes new software and a chip that can provide PlayStation 5-level graphics. A smaller, 8.0-inch display is available for entertainment in the backseat. Ventilated front seats are also available.
