Brian Vickers drove the number 83 Red Bull Toyota from 2008 to 2012.
Brian Vickers took the number 83 Red Bull Toyota Camry to the Nascar Sprint Cup Series in 2008. (now Monster Energy Nascar Cup Series). Vickers was able to pilot the car to a 14th-place finish at Sonoma and an 18th at Watkins Glen.
Red Bull’s livery would continue to exist until 2012 in some way or another. Vickers achieved five pole pole positions during that period and finished fifth at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The car has been retired and is now heading to an auction, where it may be sold to a private collector.
It will be auctioned as part of Auctions America’s Auburn Spring Sale in Indiana. The Camry is expected to sell for between $30,000 and $35,000, which is not bad considering it won’t break the bank. The Camry was built in accordance with the 2007 “Car of Tomorrow” regulations. It has a 5.86-liter pushrod V8 that produces 700 horsepower (520 kilowatts) and is free of the restrictor plate. A four-speed manual gearbox transmits power to all four wheels.
The car was removed from the track in 2012 and sold to a private collector. Gene Felton Racing restored the car to like-new condition for vintage racing events such as Goodwood. Although the suspension and transmission can only be used on roads, it is not street legal.
It won’t be the only racer on the block, thank goodness. At the same event, the entire Level 5 Motorsports Race Team, which includes five Ferraris, five IMSA racing cars, and a Porsche 996, will be up for auction. There will be plenty of race cars for sale and display, no matter what you decide.
