When the car was released for the 2010 model year, the supercharged V8 was rated to produce 550 horsepower and 510 lbft at the crank.
A month ago, we watched a video of the 2020 Shelby GT500 driving on the dyno. Some people thought the car had more power than it claimed. Now, we’ve found a video from late model restoration showing the car doing the same thing. However, the 2012MY vehicle has 182,271 miles (293.336 kilometers) on its odometer. Since this GT500 car is far from a garage queen, it’s safe to assume that the previous owners used the car properly.
The car was sold at the start of the year to a new owner. He wanted to know how much power the 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500 makes even after so many years. The supercharged 5.4-liter V8 engine produced 550 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 510 pound feet (692 Newton-meters), of torque at 4,250 RPM.
These output figures are power at the crank. This dyno-test shows how many ponies are available at the rear wheels through the Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission. At 5,900 rpm, the eight-cylinder mill produced 486 horsepower (660 Nm) and 486lb-ft (486 lb-ft) at 4,200 rpm at 20-inch wheels. This is not bad considering a typical drivetrain loss between 10-15 percent. The car used a mixture of 91 and 93 octane fuel.
The car is still in stock but the new owner plans to modify the GT500 to adjust the suspension to make it more sharp around corners.
