Next-Gen Ford Mustang To Enter Production In March 2023: Report

The S650 can be hybridized or even AWD.

The S550 Ford Mustang has been around since 2015. The next-generation pony car may still be a long way off, if Autoline is to be believed. AutoForecast Solutions is the global automotive forecasting provider . Video host Sean McElroy claims that the S650 model will not enter production until March 2023.

The report could indicate that the S650 Mustang will be available for purchase in 2024, rather than 2023MY, as previously believed. Ford will likely change the recipe and adopt a hybrid powertrain in order to comply with stricter fuel economy regulations. The electrified derivative may not be available immediately, and the Blue Oval might wait until mid-cycle.

According to some reports, the most famous sports car in the world could be the first to adopt an all-wheel drive setup. Spy photos from February 2021 show a test mule built on the current ‘Stang. Our professional photographers claimed that it sent power to both wheels.

As the next-gen Mustang will not be a completely new development, it is expected to use an existing platform. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four cylinder engine will be joined by the Coyote V8 5.0-liter and the Predator V8 5.2-liter later. A LinkedIn account claims to have the hybrid system mentioned above.

Last note: The Autoline speculatively stated that an all-electric Mustang two door sports car will go into production in December 2028. It would indicate that the S650’s upcoming model will be the last combustion engine to have a service life of just over five years.
