Mercedes-Benz is planning , a major overhaul of its product line. Ola Callenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, says the company might be overextending its efforts to reach all market segments. Although his primary focus is on front-wheel-drive vehicles at the company, significant changes are coming to the top of the automaker’s product range.
Accordingly, the manufacturer has already confirmed that neither of these products are a Coupe and convertible will be joining the new S-class sedan . The brand will offer customers a new generation SL-Class roadster as an alternative. We have exclusive renderings that show how it might look.
This vehicle was created by the rendering artist using the spy photos of the new SL Class. The roadster is currently being evaluated by engineers on public roads.
The performance division at Mercedes is responsible for the development of the new SL. Therefore, the renderings show the AMG version of Mercedes’ vehicle. It includes the Panamericana grille, vertical ribs and sporty front fascia.
The engine that the top-of-the-line version of the roadster will use is not yet known. According to rumours, it would be the Mercedes AMG GT Black Series V8 with 720 horsepower (537-kilowatt). It could also be the SL73e AMG 4Matic, which has an electrically assisted twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8.
Gorden Wagener, Daimler’s Chief Designer, says the new Daimler roadster is inspired by the iconic Mercedes 300SL. The similarities are not striking, however. The main difference between the current generation and the previous is that it uses a fabric roof rather than a metal one.
The new SL-Class will be available sometime in 2021. It will likely go on sale in late 2021 or early-2022.
