It is currently being tested in Europe.

Our photographers captured a camouflaged prototype for a Land Rover Range Rover Sport. It was the SVR-badged performance SUV with large braking and quad exhaust pipes. We have new spy photos today showing an SVR treatment on the regular Range Rover with full body camouflage foil.

The trial vehicle was caught in a convoy along Spanish roads. It doesn’t look particularly sleek or sporty due to the extensive amount of disguise that covers the entire body. The lower suspension, large brakes and four exhaust pipes at its back are all signs that it is an SVR model. These exhausts may look strange to you. They are only provisional pipes, and will be integrated into your rear bumper in the final setup.

The regular Range Rover SVR will share Land Rover’s Modular Longitudinal Architecture platform and the Range Rover Sport. It will be powered by a BMW-sourced, 4.4-liter twin turbo V8 engine. It should produce 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) in the RR Sport SVR trim. This performance SUV is the most powerful Land Rover ever made. It will be fascinating to see the Range Rover SVR’s peak output.

This Range Rover SVR prototype was seen in a convoy along with several Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, including a Jaguar F-Pace SVR. Although we don’t know why JLR is testing both the Range Rover SVR prototype and the F-Pace SVR prototype together, this could indicate that the former might be using a new engine in the form the 4.4 V8.

Last note: Land Rover just unveiled the Range Rover Sport SVR Ultimate Edition to mark the end of the current generation model’s life. It’s a stylish, expensive way to say goodbye the L494 Range Rover Sport.
