Next-Gen Subaru WRX Revised Based on Latest Spy Shots

Although it’s not a major change, it is overall more angular.

The next-gen Subaru WRX was captured in recent spy photos wrapped in light camouflage. The Kolesa created a rendering of the sedan’s exterior appearance after the cover was removed.

The new WRX is more chiseled and crisp. You can compare the rendering with one of our spy shots by using the slider tool.

The WRX’s new nose features a prominent downward sweep, giving it a sportier appearance. The inside edges of the headlights now have jagged cuts that are in keeping with the design of other Subarus. The grille is more distinctive with a crossbar running through the upper section. The lower fascia is ordinary, with a trapezoidal opening at the center and fog lights at the corners.

The most distinctive styling cue on the side is the rear flared fender with a crease running through the rear door. The new WRX doesn’t look like a performance car from a profile view.

The WRX’s trunk has a small spoiler at the tip. The current model’s taillights are more angular than the current one. Each corner of the tail has dual tailpipes.

According to some reports, the new WRX uses a modified FA24 2.4-liter turbo-four engine. You might get more power from this engine than the 260 horsepower (194kilowatts).

The model is expected to debut in April 2021, and go on sale by the end of 2019. The new WRX STI model, which is said to have a 2.4-liter engine and 400 horsepower, will reportedly arrive in June 2022.
