Rumors continue to circulate that the next-gen WrX, and STI will use a FA24 engine family. According to Japanese website , the new model is expected to debut in the summer of 2022.
This rumor suggests that the engine in the WRX will produce 296 horsepower (2230.6 kilowatts, or 300 metric horses). The 2.0-liter FA20F powerplant makes 268 hp (200 kW) in comparison to the US WRX.
According to rumors, the WRX STI is a tuned version the FA24 that produces 345 hp (257.4 kW, 350 metric horsepower), or more. From a 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four-cylinder, the current American model produces 310 horsepower (231 kW).
This is lower than what was reported in earlier rumors. One report claimed that the STI would have 400 horsepower (298 kW), and 361 lbft (490 Nm), of torque. A report was made about Toyota’s collaboration on the project. This included the vehicle’s all wheel-drive system.
The Subaru 2.4-liter FA24 engine is already a standard powerplant. The Ascent and Legacy have the turbocharged versions. The BRZ, Toyota GR 86 have the naturally-aspirated variant.
The WRX STI will receive a manual gearbox and the WRX STI a CVT gearbox. They will share an platform with the second-gen Levorg .
According to rumors, the new WRX STI is expected to debut in early 2022. Subaru’s teaser for the standard WRX has already begun so we expect to see it in a few months.
Goo.Net.com explains that this is likely to be the last iteration of the WRX or STI, without any form of electrification. The world is becoming increasingly strict about emissions rules, so there is little time for the combustion engine.
