Next Lexus LX – Due to Microchip Shortage, Delayed to 2022

Another delay is caused by the microchip shortage

Launch of the next-gen Lexus LX has been delayed due to difficulties getting parts from Southeast Asia. These are most likely semiconductors for microchips. This information was provided by dealers who spoke to the Japanese site Creativity Trend .

The LX2 was expected to be unveiled in 2021. Go on sale in 2022. It is not known how long this lack of parts could affect the launch of the new model.
The delay in the launch is understandable because Toyota has already stopped temporarily the assembly of the new Land Cruiser due to a shortage of parts sourced form Southeast Asia. LX and Land Cruiser have close relationships, so any component shortage will also affect the other.

Creative Trend reports another rumor we have just heard. According to this rumor, the base trim level for the new LX may retain the current model’s naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8. According to earlier reports, the lower trim level of the SUV would be equipped with the twin-turbo V6 (305 kilowatts) from the Land Cruiser. It produces 409 horsepower (305 Kilowatts) as well as 479 pound-feet (651 Newton-meters).

LX 750h is the higher trim. The hybrid-assisted twin-turbo V6 3.5-liter produces 480 HP (358 kW) as well as 642 lbft (871 Nm).

According to Lexus, the LX’s design will include a large version of Lexus’ spindle grille. The LX’s stance will be strong, muscular, and upright. The rear will likely have full-width taillights.

The cabin is still not visible to us. Rumours suggest that the SUV’s infotainment screen is 17 inches. A fingerprint scanner is also said to be available that allows a person to touch the screen to turn on the engine.

Despite the delay, the LX could still be available for purchase in 2022. This is just a little later than initially expected. It is possible that the debut won’t happen before ’22.
