It’s better to be late than never
The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign was announced in 2018. It has been a long-awaited announcement. Many were thrilled when the company revealed the production version of the car in May 2020. We figured that the $1 million price tag was not too significant for its wealthy customers. The first customer car batch was to be delivered in the late 2020s and early 2021, according to the announcement.
Italdesign just began the delivery of the first batch of GT-R50 units. The limited 50 units are currently being delivered to their owners, but delays were not specified. It’s better to be late than never, they say.
These Nissan GT-R models are hand-built in Moncalieri (Italy) and customized with the clients’ choice of liveries and colors.
One of the first units was inspired by the famous 1972 GT-R showcar. It has a dedicated design, livery and even a Verde Kenmeri exclusive for it. The concept car debuted at Goodwood 2018 in two owners, both wearing Liquid Kinetic Gray/Energic Sigma Gold colors. Two other owners are the Argento Italdesign team and Nero Caravaggio.
The Nissan GT-R50 uses a modified twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V6 motor. Around 12 percent of its parts are new, including the turbocharger and pistons.
The final output was dialed up at 710 horsepower, or 110 hp higher than the standard Nissan GT-R Nismo. Nismo was also able to increase the torque produced by the VR38DETT mill up to 575 lbft (780 Newton meters), which is an increase of 94 Lbft (128 Nm).
The GT-R50 is limited to 50 units and will retail for EUR990,000. ($1.08 Million) each.
