A new Z sports car will be available next month, thanks to a generous donor.
Nissan just reported second quarter sales for 2021. While there aren’t many surprises, it is disappointing to see two of the brand’s sports cars perform poorly. last reported on GT-R and 370Z sales in April of this year. The Z sports car only had 28 units shipped, while the more expensive and larger model saw 50. Three months later, the situation is worse.
The GTR was relatively stable, with 49 sales between April and June. However, the 370Z saw a significant drop in demand. Only 1 example fell below Q1. The Z coupe was only 5 percent less popular than last year’s. Yikes!
The numbers for the 370Z shouldn’t be surprising. Nissan will unveil the replacement sports car, commonly known as the Z, on August 17. The new Japanese two-door will be available for purchase before the end of the year and we expect it to significantly increase sales.
Nissan appears to be doing well outside of the sports car segment, especially when compared to Q2 2020. From April 21 through June 21, this year, the company’s total US sales were 280.282, which is 73.8 percent more than the same period last. The automaker’s sales increased by 39 percent in the first six months.
The Nissan Rogue, which saw 95,569 deliveries in the second quarter of last year, was the best-performing Nissan in terms sales. The Sentra took first place in the non-SUV segment with 40,621 deliveries. This is roughly twice the number of sales it recorded in Q2 lastyear.
