Nissan Z Nismo Reported for 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon with Many Upgrades

Don’t be too excited.

Nissan will unveil the production-ready Z sportscar on August 17. The production of the 370Z was finally completed. This will allow the Japanese brand to introduce a new model in the sport car segment, in an effort to increase sales. The full debut of the car could be followed by the release of the Nismo version early next year. Don’t be too excited.

We take all reports from Japan’s Best Car website with a grain. But it is interesting to see that Nissan could be making a more extreme version of the new Z. The publication claims that the Z Nismo will make its public debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2022. A market launch is slated for March 2022 in Japan.

Best Car isn’t fond of quoting its sources. However, it claims that the Z-sport car, which is more extreme, will benefit from several upgrades. The coupe will be equipped with larger 20-inch wheels and improvements to suspension and steering. Although there is no information about an increase in power, our source says the Z Nismo will be powered by the 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine with 405 horsepower (302kW).

This is literally all we have so far, and it leaves us doubtful about the credibility of this report. It makes sense to see a Z coupe that is more track-focused, especially when you consider the fact that Nissan is also working on a GT4 version of the car. It won’t take long to adapt some of the technologies and know-how already available to make a more road-legal model.

We’ll hopefully learn more over the next few weeks. We are just a few weeks away from the full launch of the standard Nissan Z. There could be some surprises at the debut event. Keep checking back as we continue to look for more information.
