It will debut on August 17.
Nissan had announced earlier this month that the new Z would finally make its debut in production form this August. August 17 will be the official date, with the big unveiling taking place in New York. The ZProto was the first preview of the new sports car by Nissan. This concept, which Nissan claimed was similar in design to the production version, was shown late last year. In a few months we’ll be able to see how close it is, but until then, a spy video attempts to reveal the hidden camouflage.
Two test vehicles are captured in Arizona. One vehicle is hidden completely under a tan cover. While the other vehicle is exposed, it still has the same camouflage wrap that was used on another recently photographed test vehicle. The camo doesn’t conceal the fact that it looks very similar to the concept. The Nissan concept car was a fastback with the squared-off styling that the test car showed last year. The concept was very appealing and you will enjoy the production version.
We don’t see the car moving in the video so we aren’t sure what’s underneath the hood. Rumours suggest that Nissan may have borrowed the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from Infiniti Q60. Expect the engine to produce around 400 horsepower (298kilowatts in the Z), which will include a manual gearbox to send power to the rear wheels. An option for an automatic is available.
Although we don’t have the opportunity to see the interior of the Z, it shouldn’t be too far from the original concept. We should be able to see the Z’s interior, which includes its triple gauge design, digital instrument cluster and 8.0-inch touchscreen, with very few changes. Rumors suggest that the new Z will be priced at $34,995, which is very competitive. When the new Z is finally revealed by Nissan in New York City, we’ll hopefully have all the details.
