Volkswagen, what’s the hurry?
The TRoc R is the hot version of the Volkswagen T-Roc. It was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show two years ago. Although it was made before the dreaded pandemic of influenza, Wolfsburg seems to be in a hurry to refresh the crossover.
The T-Roc R and T-Roc R-Line facelifts have been seen before. Now it’s time to see the T-Roc R in action for these latest spy photos. The most obvious sign? The R badge at the tailgate. VW didn’t bother hiding it for road tests.
Our spies found that the T-Roc R prototype for facelift was captured in the country near VW’s Wolfsburg headquarters.
The redesigns are most visible on the grille. The horizontal slats from the previous model have been replaced by a single, combined with a restyled, mesh. The headlights are slimmer, which ticks all the boxes for things that have been changed in a facelifted vehicle. We do need to mention that the bumper seems to conceal some of the changes below.
The side is unaltered, but the prototype spotted seems to have Y-spoke wheels as opposed to V spokes on the outgoing model.
The only changes we can see at the rear are the restyled graphics in the taillamps and the repositioned R symbol, which received a redesign the year that the T-Roc R made it’s global debut.
The T-Roc R and the rest of T-Roc’s family are not expected to undergo any mechanical changes. The refreshed T-Roc range will be revealed by VW next year. However, we expect the next-generation model to join the Golf, Tiguan and Passat.
