NuCamp Shows Finally a Barefoot Mini Trailer for the USA

This import from the former country took over two years to complete and is now almost ready for US campers.

It has been more than two years since American trailer- and truck camper manufacturer nuCamp announced that it would add the adorable Barefoot to their US line-up. Barefoot’s mini camping trailer is already available in the UK. US customers were thrilled about its imminent arrival. Some wondered if it would ever come to pass as the months turned into years.

After NuCamp presented a prototype trailer that was US-spec at the Hershey RV Show, Pennsylvania, we are now closer to being allowed to purchase a Barefoot. You can see TJ’s walkthrough video of the prototype on YouTube by the Loving life Hitched Up.

After watching the video several times, and comparing it with the original Barefoot Trailer from the UK we can confirm that there is not much difference. The only noticeable change is at the kitchen counter, where the original UK sink-and-stove combination has been replaced by a separate stove and sink on the US-spec prototype.

Slide-out legs allow the dinette to be converted into a bed. There’s also storage underneath the driver’s seat. However, this is not true for the rear and passenger seats. Both of these houses mechanicals. The seat cushions attach to the wall, so that they don’t move around or fall while the trailer is being towed.

We can only see the addition of 110-volt outlets in American style instead of Euro. This begs the question: with so few differences between the original Barefoot prototype and the US-spec version, why did it take so long? And why hasn’t it been on sale yet?! According to NuCamp, COVID has impacted the company’s product schedule. This makes sense. This trailer isn’t enough to satisfy everyone’s curiosity, however.
