Is the Camaro ready to race endurance?
The Chevrolet Camaro faces tough times. Sales are down and Chevy is only trying to keep it fresh . Recent posts on the GM Design Instagram account show that at least one person within the company is still passionate about the model. This rendering shows a Camaro race car competing in the GT3 category.
This design features a large, trapezoidal-shaped front facia with a large splitter. The wide fender flares enable larger wheels to fit, and the front has cooling inlets. The design is also optimized for large dive planes. The hood is now equipped with a power bulge and an opening at the center. The back is adorned with a wing.
The fifth-gen Camaro had GT3-spec racers, but the sixth-gen model got a lower GT4-spec version. Automakers often view competition as a marketing tool. Chevy seems to place more importance on the Corvette winning endurance races than the Camaro taking home the trophies.
According to current rumors, the current Camaro will be around until 2026 rather than disappearing in 2024. It’s unclear what Chevy will do to rekindle interest in the model. The majority of automakers try to keep things fresh by offering new powertrains or updated technology.
The competition is moving ahead. According to reports, the next generation of the Ford Mustang will be available in 2022. Chevy will have to work harder to find Camaro buyers if it is competing against the current ‘Stang. There are three new Dodge Charger and Challenger variants.
