Mitsubishi does not plan to revive the model.
There are many rumors about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution’s possible return. However, the company insists that it has no plans to revive the iconic vehicle. Although the company repeatedly stated that the Evo would not be making a comeback we still believe in it. Rain Prisk’s unofficial rendering of the Evo gives it a bolder, modern look.
Since the Lancer Evo vanished in 2016, the Mitsubishi design style has changed significantly. The company now focuses on SUVs and crossovers. Although adapting this styling to a sedan is difficult, Prisk did an excellent job integrating the bold front-end design of the Mitsu onto the new Evo. Although the chrome accent is excessive, the slim headlights, small grille and front chin spoiler give it a nice aesthetic.
The car is positioned low above the wheels, with thick body creases that add to the otherwise simple sedan. Its sportiness is accentuated by the one that runs from the front door to the rear door, and then over the handles to the fender. The Evo’s rear wing, which is massive and has been a constant feature of its design for many years, completes the look. This gives the sedan an edgy look that has helped it find a niche audience.
Motor1.com reported that the Evo would be returning with a 341-horsepower (254-kilowatts) engine sourced directly from Renault Megane RS. A lot has happened to Mitsubishi and the global alliance it’s part of – Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The conglomerate has refocused its efforts on all three automakers last year as the lineup struggled against the competition. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is unlikely to return because it is focusing more on Europe than the ASEAN and Oceania regions.
