Is it possible for it to make it into production?
For those working in the automotive industry, Genesis can refer to many things. While some might associate Genesis with the English rock band, most petrolheads will be familiar with the luxury subbrand of Hyundai. We recently found a rendering by Kolesa that shows what the second generation of the Genesis Coupe, once it was the Hyundai Genesis coupe, could look like.
The Genesis Coupe was a vehicle that was built by Hyundai from 2008 to 2016. Although it was not a huge success, the Coupe may be returning as a custom automobile. With the debut of The Genesis X Concept, we have already seen a glimpse at what it might look like.
This rendering shows many of the design cues that were seen on the concept car. The headlights are a key feature of the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design language. The same “two-story light bar” is featured on the front fascia, which wraps around to the vehicles’ doors. Similar design can be seen at the rear with tail lamps wrapping around the quarter panels.
Although the concept vehicle was impressive, we would bet that the final product will have similar styling and proportions to the render. What lies beneath the hood is the biggest mystery.
The Genesis X Concept was a clear representation of the brand’s ambitions for an all-electric future. Kolesa said that the 379-horsepower (283 kilowatts) turbocharged 3.5 liter T-GDI could be borrowed from the G80 Sedan or GV80 cross-over. It doesn’t matter what powertrain it gets, Genesis has plenty of design ideas.
