After a long string of teasers, spy shots and speculations, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport / Challenger is finally here.
After a long string of spy shots and teasers, the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport/ Challenger has finally made its official debut.
The SUV’s mid-size size comes with the latest “Dynamic Shield”, front fascia. This is the same as the Outlander Sport facelifted. There’s lots of chrome trim where the front can be seen. We also notice two slender headlights that incorporate thin strips of LED daytime run lights, while the fog lights are positioned low on the bumper.
It doesn’t look very attractive because the car looks stretched from the Cpillar. The rear end with its vertical taillights won’t be for everyone. The rear lighting clusters are based on the GR-HEV concept, which was displayed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Just like that car, the taillights reach all the way to the bumper.
It’s obvious that the interior has been lifted from the L200/Triton, which is the basis of the new Pajero Sport. The cabin features a nice look, with leather seats and silver trim, and an adequate-sized display for your infotainment system. While the electric parking brake debuts on a Mitsubishi, the dashboard’s central area appears glossy black.
The engine is a 2.4-liter MIVEC turbodiesel and it’s paired with an 8-speed auto gearbox, which was specifically designed for the Pajero Sport. We don’t know the output of the engine, but we do know that it produces 154 PS (113kW) and 380 Nm (228 lb-ft), respectively 181 PS (133kW) and 430 Nm (317lb-ft).
The 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will go on sale in Thailand this fall. It will then be available in Australia and the ASEAN countries.
