Officially Confirmed for March Debut by Kia CV Electric Crossover

It will feature cutting-edge driver assistance technology.

We can expect a full launch of the electric crossover in March after spy shots of the mysterious Kia EV have been available for some time. This is a bit disappointing news for who were expecting to see the product in February, as was claimed in an earlier teaser.

According to Kia’s information, the electric crossover will go by the codename CV. However, the automaker has not yet revealed the name of the production vehicle. The company promises that the model will have Highway Driving Assist Level 2. The company plans to add Highway Driving Pilot in 2023. This is a step towards Level 3 driving assistance capability.

The CV’s body is rounded and sleek according to spy shots (above). The low-slung roof is complemented by a teardrop-shaped nose. It is possible that the company may be embedding large cameras in these areas due to the odd shape of the mirrors, with tiny spurs at the bottom. We expect high-tech surroundings, although there aren’t any good views yet.

The CV rides on the Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform. According to Kia’s investor announcement, 11 models are in the pipeline that will ride on these underpinnings. These vehicles are equipped with cutting-edge technology such as audio-video navigation and telematics as well over-the-air services and feature-on demand elements.

E-GMP can support batteries with around 310 miles range. Fast charging should take around 20 minutes. Specific powertrain specifications are not yet available for the Kia EV.

Kia anticipates that the upcoming EVs will be as profitable as combustion vehicles by 2025, starting with the CV. As economies of scale improve over the coming years, this success will only continue to grow.
