Take one for the strange lifted hatchback.
Infiniti realized that the QX30 was not a very successful product in 2019, and decided to discontinue production. This was due to slow sales. Infiniti was able to shift 148 units in 2020, despite only having a few hundred available. The model has been discontinued, though only one unit was sold last year.
The 2021 Nissan sales reports have been released and reveal that the QX50 was Infiniti’s most-sold nameplate between January 1 and December 31, 2021. Only one customer contacted the dealers to inquire if the QX30 was still on sale during this time. This result is a decrease of 99.3 per cent compared to 2020.
Even people with a limited memory will be able to recall that the QX30 was a crossover model based on the Mercedes Benz GLA. It was available in the USA with a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, either FWD or AWD. A 2.2-liter Mercedes-sourced diesel motor was also available in Europe. It is more efficient.
Although it was not the same model, Nissan had one ghost model that was still available for purchase during the year. The all new Nissan Z has a replacement for 370Z, but the 370Z was still available for most 2021. Only 36 cars were delivered to customers. This represents a drop in sales of 98.2% compared to last year.
Infiniti’s overall sales in America last year were 58,553 vehicles, which is 26.4 percent less than 2020. However, Nissan’s annual result of 919.086 deliveries was up 12.1 percent. 595,647 of these came from its truck portfolio. 751 027 of the 751,027 machines sold by Nissan in the US in 2013 were made in the country.
