Opel Updates the A-Team to 2019 with This Cool Zafira

It comes with big wheels and a fake V8 engine.

Do you recall the 1980s Action-Adventure TV series? It featured a cool 1983 GMC Vandura van with distinctive 2-tone exterior and roof-mounted spoiler. Opel is bringing back the spirit of A-Team van through the O-Team Zafira life concept. The O in the vehicle’s title stands for Opel.

Although the Vandura’s original Vandura has very little in common, the connection between the Vandura and the German vehicle is evident from the outside. Russelsheim’s van features a two-tone color scheme and a similar fixed spoiler on the roof. They are very different colors. The black and grey body is gone, and instead there’s a white and dark combination with neon green stripes.

The van is equipped with upgraded air suspension and 20-inch BBS tires on all four corners. Brembo brakes provide stopping power with four-piston disc brakes and front rotors of 11 inches. The brand’s 2.0-liter diesel engine is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This provides the brand with motivation. Opel has added speakers to recreate the sound of a V8.

Here’s an interesting fact. The original car had a huge 5.7-liter V8 engine, but it produced only 160 horsepower (119 Kilowatts) or 250 pound-feet (339 Newton meters) of torque. Opel’s new version is almost three times smaller in displacement, but has slightly more power: 174 horsepower (130 kW) & 295 lbft (400 Nm). The brand claims a combined fuel consumption rate of 7.0 to 8.1 liters per 100 km, which is equivalent to 29-33.6 US miles per gallon.
