Paris Hilton’s Former SLR McLaren Has Incredible Service Costs

With that amount of money, you could purchase a brand-new A-Class Sedan.

The MercedesBenz SLR McLaren has been hit hard by depreciation, as with many supercars in the 2000s. Paris Hilton paid $463,000 to purchase her 2006 SLR. The same car was purchased recently for $180,000 at an online auction. It means that the 300 SLR of today has lost approximately $18,000 each year.

The flip side of the coin is that keeping the SLR in top shape can quickly become a financial disaster. After sending this grey example to a Mercedes repair shop for an oil change, the owner learned the hard way that the V8 engine needs serious attention.

Although the list of service costs is quite long, it’s not surprising when you have a rare supercar. McLaren assembled just over 2,100 cars at his Woking home. Examples of relevant examples are the “A Service”, which costs $2,105. A new power steering pump costs $2,220. A steering rack costs $6,270. And a used genuine Mercedes turbine-styled steering wheel costs $1,899 to replace it.

Wait, there’s more. The cost of replacing the cheap aftermarket batteries with new OEM ones will increase by $1,350. Meanwhile, the price for new gas door struts is $2,500 per piece. The Mercedes dealer demanded that the brake line mounts be replaced for $1350. Also, new tire pressure monitoring sensors cost $1700. Brake caliper cooling fans cost $1250.

There are also miscellaneous items like new wipers at $105, a washernozzle at $500, a gas cap tether at $100, a tire fitting container at $215 and a drain plug repair at $850. In addition to these costs, the SLS needs additional replacements for components that are worn out over time, such as the wheel bolts.

This particular SLR has over 21,000 miles (roughly 33,800 km) and costs $34,565 in service costs. This is why a new A Class Sedan base model is approximately $1,000 cheaper in the United States. As if all that weren’t enough, brake rotors must be replaced at least once a year for a total of $20,000. The cost of the brake pads is approximately $3,000.
