People in Truck Danger are Saved by Safety Chains from Bridge

They also saved the dogs from the pickup.

Safety chains are essential when towing. They ensure that the ball and hitch don’t fall apart and your haul doesn’t get lost. According to shocking photos from a recent Idaho crash, safety chains can also prevent you from falling into a canyon.

The 2004 Ford F-350 Crossed the bridge railing at Malad Gorge, Interstate 84. The pickup, instead of falling, hung precariously above the ravine while the trailer was wedged on its side. Only the safety chains kept the truck from falling around 100 feet into canyon.

Two people and two dogs were trapped in the Ford’s dangling frame. According to a Facebook posting by the Magic Valley Paramedics, the crash “had just occurred”.

Although neither occupant suffered serious injuries in the crash, it was difficult to rescue them. After rescuers arrived, the first responders managed to grab another set of chains to support the truck and ensure it wouldn’t fall.

The Special Operations Rescue Team of the Magic Valley Paramedics, and other agencies made it to the scene. The rescuers were able to lower the truck and attach harnesses to the occupants in order to pull them away. Even the dogs were able to be rescued from the pickup by the team.

The pickup’s occupants were taken to the hospital. Magic Valley Paramedics reported they had “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Capt. David Neth, Idaho State Police stated. “This is something that we train for and prepare for. But when it happens, people’s lives literally hang on the line, it takes everyone to work together.”
