It’s not necessary to wait to see it.
Although the Ford F-150 Lightning will be available for purchase starting May 19, we don’t yet have an accurate idea of how the truck will look. Motor1.com was granted permission by WB.Artist20 to publish his renderings of the electric pickup.
We know most about the front of the truck. The nose is lit by the running lights that span the entire width, with LEDs under the hood. WB.Artist20 has added a Lightning logo to the place where you would expect to see Ford. The grille is sealed, which makes sense since EVs do not require airflow like combustion engines. There’s also a cooling intake in the lower fascia.
The Lightning is largely identical to the F-150’s side view. We’re currently viewing the truck as a SuperCrew cab with four doors. It is not known if other configurations are possible.
Ford has kept the ride height low to improve aerodynamics and range. Ford isn’t positioning this model as an off-roader.
The tailgate tip has a subtle spoiler at the rear. WB.Artist20 adds a pair full-width LEDs to the vehicle’s upper and lower taillights. The back features a large Lightning emblem.
We don’t know much about the mechanical components of the F-150 Lightning. At least two electric motors are available to provide all-wheel drive. The range should not exceed 300 miles , but could reach 400 miles if the battery is larger.
Mid-2022 will see the F-150 Lightning begin production at Rouge Electric Vehicle Center. Ford is already seeing enough interest in the EV that it plans to increase production by 50%.
