Plymouth Road Runner SUPERBIRD Concept

The artist released new drawings of a Plymouth Road Runner Superbird Concept. These sketches depict a supercar from the 1960’s ready to destroy the track.

In June, artist Michael Leonhard introduced us to his design sketches for the Plymouth Road Runner Concept. These renderings are now the Road Runner Superbird Concept.

Leonhard sees Leonhard’s Superbird as a late-60’s NASCAR winner. The HEMI engine was used by the artist to create an American-style sports car with muscle and less drag.

Leonhard writes that the nose cone is sleek and slips in air like butter. He also included a spoiler beneath the centered grille opening. Leonhard also integrated an exhaust system to the rocker panel. He says that the two-panel aluminum rear spoiler, made from ideally aluminium, is huge and would provide “enormous downforce.”

Leonhard created the Richard Petty-inspired artwork to keep with the NASCAR look. The Plymouth Road Runner Superbird Concept would have 19-inch wheels on the front and 21-inch ones at the back.
