Police Service in Italy: Alfa Romeo Giulia, a bullet-resistant Alfa Romeo Giulia arrives

These 1,770 patrolling Italy will be available.

The Carabinieri, the Italian military division responsible for maintaining order in the country’s affairs, has a long history with Alfa Romeo. The latest in this connection is Alfa’s delivery of the first Giulia specially equipped for the Carabinieri’s Nuclei Radiomobili Patrol units. These vehicles will eventually be used by the force to build a fleet of 1,770.

The engine is a 2.0-liter with 197 horsepower (147kilowatts) under the hood. It’s also equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The sedan can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 6.6 seconds, and top speeds of 143 mph (223 kph).

Special sedan

The Giulia Carabinieri-spec Giulia gets B4-level armor on the windows and doors. This armor is sufficient to protect against pistol cartridges of up to a.44magnum. The emergency lights are located on the roof and have a distinct fairing. This makes them stylish and aerodynamic. Flashing lights can be found on the sides and LED flashers are on the mirrors.

The detention cell can only house one person. This is an interesting detail on the inside. This Giulia has the advantage of allowing three officers to ride on it.

An Important Anniversary

The date of delivery of the new Alfa Romeo Giulia is exactly 70 years after the date the first Alfa was put into service. This was the 1900 M “Matta.” Soon after, the 1900 sedan arrived and the Carabinieri was born.

The Giulia was followed in 1960 by the Alfetta and Alfa Romeo 90. Two Giulia Quadrifoglios were delivered by Alfa Romeo to the Carabinieri in 2016 for use in Rome, Milan.
