Porsche 911 Safari Unofficial Rendering Reveals Our Rally Spirits

This is a safari-tastic taster of the real car that’s yet to come.

The renderings that we feature are often presented as fiction and have no chance of ever being produced. You can see the Porsche 911 high-riding car at the top of this page. It is an unofficial rendering. It’s very likely that you’ll see this car someday.

Motor.es granted us permission to use this rendering. It shows a brand-new 911 Safari that was shipped directly from Porsche’s Stuttgart factory. Off-road-friendly 911s are well-known in the motoring community, but these 911s usually come from aftermarket conversions or racing applications. Recent spy photos of lifted 911 test cars at Nurburgring show that this is not another one-off creation. This rendering is actually based on these spy photos.

This 911 Safari rendering does more than increase ground clearance or wheel gap. There have been many front and rear fascia variations that offer better departure and approach angles. This is what we see here. Although the license plate is raised in the same way as a 911 Turbo 911 Turbo, the bumper doesn’t have the Turbo’s aero parts. It is a little lower than the Turbo’s, and you can see rubberized trim on the wheel arches to protect it from damage. The same features are found on real 911 Safari test cars.

What is the power source for the 911 Safari? It is unknown what the 911 Safari will be powered by, but we do not expect to see the 911 Turbo produce the same power. Combining all-wheel drive and the turbocharged flat-six engine of the Carrera 4S would make this vehicle extremely fast for tackling loose surfaces. This beast, even with all-wheel drive and gravel rally tires, would be a nightmare to control. That’s fine by us.

Now, it’s time to wait. We have not had the opportunity to see real 911 Safari prototypes. Given Porsche’s long public evaluation period, it could be a while before it gets to market in 2022. It should be worth the wait if this rendering shows the final product.
