Porsche 930 Turbo Rinspeed R69 Is Rare And Not Super Expensive

911 Turbo power combined with 944 pop up headlights.

The Porsche 930 Turo, also known in some markets as the Porsche 911 Turbo, was Germany’s fastest production car when it was first introduced in 1975. It was powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged motor, which was later replaced by a more powerful and faster 3.3 Turbo during the second model year. Although it was the best Porsche offered at the time, some customers didn’t get enough.

Rinspeed felt the 930 Turbo required a complete visual overhaul and only 12 examples were made of the R69. The new bodywork looked like a modified Ferrari Testarossa and featured pop-up headlights. The engine also has a covered rear section and streaked flanks.

The original turbo-intercooled 3.3-liter turbo engine is still in use. It sends 296 horsepower (221 megawatts) to its rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The vehicle should reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) at a standstill in 5.4 seconds. This is a remarkable result even by 1980s standards and a great number today.

Three years after leaving a Porsche showroom in the United Kingdom, this particular example was converted by Rinspeed in 1983. It’s currently up for sale. The description says that it’s in “excellent condition, having been recently resprayed in Rinspeed’s Pearl White color.” We can also see the slight flaws in the attached photos, such as the worn leather upholstery on its driver’s seat, and the minor lacquer damage to the rims.

The Rinspeed R69 is a rare and well-respected car. However, its current price does not seem to indicate that it will be a collector car. We don’t mean to misunderstand the price of the Rinspeed R69. It’s about PS50,000, or $68,750 at current exchange rates. But it’s certainly a price that wealthy collectors will not have any problem paying.
