It’s ready for the runway in New York City.
The Porsche 911SC or Super Carrera is a significant piece of the automaker’s air-cooled history. It was also the last car to be named Porsche, from 1978 to 1983. One example of the 58,000+ units of the sports car has been restored by Porsche, but this time in collaboration with Aime Leon Dore (ALD).
Porsche and ALD collaborated for the first time last year in the restoration of a Type 964 911 Carrera 4 Carera 4 for New York Fashion Week. This was to integrate the 911 into fashion. We think it’s not too farfetched, considering that 911s have been a standard in design.
Teddy Santis (ALD founder and creative director) says that the project is personal and is based on his family’s values and roots.
Santis said, “The design of this vehicle and the creative direction of the project both came from my childhood in the Greek islands and I love the unique beauty that things get better with age and wear.”
The 911 SC was restored in the same way as the Carrera 4 collab. It has a roof rack, auxiliary lights and Fuchs wheels to make it more practical. The classic Porsche Olive was selected.
ALD used Persian carpets for floor mats to complement the exterior and integrated them into their door cards. Recaro seats were also restored, as was other items in the cabin such as the leather to the bocle.
It’s a beautiful restoration and the Olive 911 SC is ready to take the spotlight this weekend at ALD flagship store in Manhattan. The car will be displayed from May 21 through 23, with a capsule collection featuring materials and patterns taken from the new model.
