Porsche Taycan Turbo S Vs GT2 RS Drag Race Ends In Photo Finish

While the future is moving fast, so is history.

Electricity is the future, whether you like it or not. Fans might find the lack of sound and a transmission to manually shift gears annoying, but it won’t be too slow in the long-term. It will actually be faster than ever with hard-hitting torque that is instantaneous. This is especially true for sprints straight lines.

Daniel Abt, a YouTube video that illustrates this point, shows the top of internal combustion and battery power from Porsche during a quarter-mile race. The 911 GT2RS with its boosted flat-six of 3.8-liters producing 700 horsepower (or 522 kilowatts) to power the rear wheels, is gasoline. This car comes with the Weissach Package which reduces the weight by 40 pounds. The GT2 RS can reach 60 mph in 2.7 seconds if its tires are able to grip the pavement.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the silent predator. Porsche claims a 0-60 speed of 2.6 seconds for 2021. Overboost mode delivers 750 horsepower (559 kW) to all four wheels. The four-door sedan’s 774 pound-feet (1.049 Newton-meters), of instant torque, propels it forward with incredible authority. The Taycan Turbo S, at nearly twice the weight of the 911 GT2 RS – 5,100 lbs – needs that torque.

These stats indicate that a race between these vehicles would be very close. The video proves it. The Taycan’s all-wheel drive allows for a more powerful launch, which absolutely humiliates GT2 at 60 mph. You won’t believe a difference of 2.6 seconds to 3.2 seconds. Just look at the distance that the Taycan pulls in such short time. The GT2 RS is a fan of high-speed air and quickly loses the EV advantage as the screaming six takes its stride. Both cars glide side-by-side across the line at the quarter mile mark.

They are almost side by side. The first car wins, but the other cars take home follow-up wins. Which Porsche is the king? Let’s just say electric power will soon take over the motoring world, but internal combustion won’t go away without a fight.
