Produce-Spec Toyota Z4x bZ4x will debut in 2021 and go on sale in 2022

Toyota will be able to offer seven bZ models in its family by 2025.

Toyota used the debut in the US of the Corolla Cross as an opportunity to present the bZ4X electric cross-over concept in North America. Now, the automaker confirms that the production version will be available in the second half of this year. It will go on sale in early 2022.

Lisa Materazzo (group vice president of Toyota Marketing), stated that the vehicle is roughly the same size as a RAV4, and has the ability to stand out from other BEVs. She said it would be well-positioned in the sweet spot.

Toyota has shared photos suggesting that the production version could look very similar the one we see here. It is not impossible to produce many of the wild design elements. One of the most bizarre elements is the yoke-style steering wheels that are displayed in the photos. Other photos show a more traditional circular wheel. This feature may be unique to the show car.

The cabin features a digital instrument cluster and widescreen infotainment displays. A tiny screen is used for the HVAC system. A knob allows you to select the drive modes from the center console.

The bZ4X has yet to be revealed details about its powertrain. This model has all-wheel drive. This suggests that it may have a two-motor configuration. It is powered by the eTNGA platform.

The bZ4X was co-developed by Toyota and Subaru. Another brand will receive an electric crossover it will name the Solterra. It will arrive in the US by mid-2022.

By 2025, Toyota will have seven bZ models in its family. According to trademarks, these will be the bZ1X-bZ5X models, with some variants without the “X” in the name for those without all-wheel drive. These EVs will be available worldwide from the automaker. The company will also offer 70 electrified products around the world.
