By 2030, every Ram model will have an electric version.
The automotive industry is rapidly changing and RAM will not be left behind. The foundation that the company will use to electrify its portfolio was announced today by the company. Ram plans boldly to electrify its lineup over the next few years. This includes an all-electric version its 1500 pickup. It is possible thanks to a large investment by Stellantis.
Although the company did not provide details about the pickup, it teased the model with a sharp and shadowed rendering. This render is quite different than the current 1500. Ram’s 1500 BEV (battery electric vehicle) features a tall grille and narrow lighting elements. It also has an illuminated badge. The greenhouse is slimmer than the 1500, which is accentuated by the angled bedsides. Although we won’t know much about the pickup for a while, Mike Koval, the brand CEO, stated that “We aren’t following in the footsteps our competitors.”
Ram’s presentation was more than just a tease. Koval announced that an electrified pickup will be in production by 2024. It may not be the right time to bring in the electric pickup. The Rivian EV and GMC Hummer E-V will all be available later in the year. Next spring, the Ford F-150 Lightning will arrive. Although the Silverado Electric Vehicle could be beaten to market, Chevy has not yet announced when its EV truck would arrive.
Ram’s announcement was made amid a flurry news from its parent company Stellantis. It announced EV plans to several of its brands including Dodge. Stellantis intends to invest EUR30 billion (or 35.5 billion today at current exchange rates) to electrify its brands’ lineups. Ram will electrify its vans and trucks by doing this. Ram plans to offer an electric version of most of its models by 2025. By 2030, there will be an EV for each model.
