Sebastien Loeb praised Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari’s driver, for his performance at the World Rally Championship debut.
Raikkonen, 29, crashed out of the event after a stunning roll into a ditch. He was still classified 15th overall.
Frenchman Loeb, who is a multiple WRC Champion and was second in Finland overall, stated that he thought he did a great job.
He said that Hanninen was only one second behind him and other top drivers, which is very impressive in Finland.
Mikko Hirvonen, rally winner, added: “I share the same thoughts with Sebastien; I believe he did really well considering that he has only done two rallies using pace notes. He was setting great times.”
Jari-Matti Latvala, Hirvonen’s Ford colleague, finished Rally Finland third. She said of Raikkonen that he did a great job considering his lack in experience. Ok, he did go off the road but I was able to stay a while.
“It’s not an easy road, but these things can happen.”
Sebastian Vettel was also a Loeb’s guest at Rally Finland, as part of Loeb’s Citroen team.
