Mopar goodies are loaded into the truck and it comes with a tent on the roof.
We’re still waiting for Ram’s performance-oriented TRX to be introduced, but the 1500 Rebel will get a conceptual derivative at this year’s SEMA. The OTG (Off The Grid), is Ram’s collaboration with Mopar to make the pickup an overlanding vehicle.
They began with a 2020 Ram 1500 The EcoDiesel V6 3.0-liter EcoDiesel produces 260 horsepower and 480 pounds-feet (651 Newton meters) of torque. This engine is extremely economical and returns as high as 26 miles per gallon The combined cycle is backed up by the 33-gallon (125 liter) fuel tank. This makes the truck perfect for long trips.
Mopar’s two inch lift kit was fitted to improve ground clearance. After that, beadlock wheels were wrapped in 35-inch Goodyear tires for better off-road capability. The new Mopar bumper features a built-in winch and the front grille is updated with a flow-through RAM badge. The snorkel can be seen, which is functional and not for show.
Side profile shows fender flares at the front and rear axles, as well as rock rails that provide extra protection in difficult terrain. The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG’s rear bumper is a modified Tradesman model. It has been moved to improve the departure angle and move the exhaust.
The magic happens when you open the 60:40-split bed doors. Ram and Mopar installed a bed rack above the truck mattress. This was bundled with a collapsible roof tent that can be accessed by the stowable ladder. The OTG is a camper-like vehicle that offers many camping-like features, including a gas stove, a sink, and an on-board water system.
There are many goodies in the back, including an air compressor and hidden bed step. A solar panel set mounted on roof stores extra energy for power supply. Additional LED lights are included in the rear and front bumpers, as well as the roof to provide maximum illumination for off-road adventures.
Mopar will display 14 customized vehicles at SEMA, including the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG Concept.
