Renault’s new mid-size model is starting to get some details.
New details are starting to emerge about Renault’s upcoming brand new mid-size model.
According to French media, the car will be revealed on July 6, and will replace the Laguna III as well as the Latitude. The car will come in a sedan or wagon body style, as the coupe version of the Laguna is likely to be scrapped due to low demand. It will be based on the CMF platform that Nissan co-developed and spy photos show it to look much more attractive than the model it replaces.
The D segment car is not known much else. However, reports suggest it will be equipped with the Espace’s head up display and could sport the “Atalans moniker”, although earlier rumors suggested that other names were possible. It will be larger than the Laguna, and it will have a longer wheelbase. This will allow for a more spacious interior cabin, which will be important in China.
The second generation R-Link infotainment and safety system will be available. This includes adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, semi-automatic parking, and semi-automatic self-parking. A four-wheel steering system, adaptive dampers, and full LED headlights featuring L-shaped daytime running lamps are also on the agenda.
The replacement for Renault Laguna & Latitude is being assembled at the Georges Besse plant in Douai, France. It is expected to go on sale this autumn.
