Renault Talisman S-Edition Gets A New Megane RS-Sourced 1.8-Turbo

This Talisman is the most powerful in the range, with 225 horsepower.

Renault finally extended the Talisman line with a sportier version that will answer the Skoda Superb SportLine and Ford Mondeo ST Line as well as other European D-segment markets. Geneva is the official debut of the Talisman S-Edition. It will be bringing with it a new turbo-gas engine, a 1.8-liter turbo-gas engine.

The same unit is used in the Megane RS, Alpine A110. However, it’s tuned to produce 225 horsepower (165 kilowatts), and 221 poundfeet (311 Newton-meters). The unit is coupled to a seven speed dual-clutch automated gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. Renault claims that the powerplant offers enhanced driving pleasure, although it does not provide acceleration or maximum speed.

The Talisman S-Edition includes the new 1.8 turbo engine and Renault’s 4Control (rear-steering wheels) as well as Electronic Damper Control (adaptive suspension). Both are part of the standard equipment and offer an “impeccably smooth riding experience.”

The cabin’s sporty ambience continues inside with black leather interior and red contrasting stitching on the dashboard and seats, as well as grey and red carpet mats with an embroidered S-Edition motif and aluminum sport pedal caps and other aluminum accents.

Sandra Gomez (D-segment Program Director at French company), comments that Talisman’s S-Edition adds a sporty touch to the range. The new 1.8-liter, 225-hp engine combines power and refinement to provide even more driving pleasure.

The new Talisman S-Edition is being displayed by Renault in Geneva, as an estate car model. It will be available for sale throughout Europe starting September. It will be offered with either turbo- or diesel engines, depending on which market it is in. Pricing details to follow.
