Report: 2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD could get diesel with more than 500 horsepower

The Torque is said to be close to 1,100 pounds-feet.

We are still fresh from the debut of the refreshed 2022 Chevrolet Silverado semi-ton pickup truck on September 9. For the 2023 model year, the larger heavy-duty trucks will be available in 2022. If power rumors are true, the Silverado HD won’t have any major changes in styling. The new Silverado HD will have the most impressive horsepower and torque.

TFLtruck claims that an insider has revealed the output of the 2023 Silverado HD powered by the Duramax diesel. According to the V8, the engine will produce 505 horsepower (377kilowatts) and 1,085 pound-feet (1.471 Newton-meters), which would put the Silverado HD (and its GMC Sierra HD mate) at the top in overall power. It would also be the largest full-size diesel pickup truck with more than 500 horsepower.

The Ford Super Duty has 475 horsepower (354 kW) thanks to its 6.7-liter Power Stroke engine V8. Crosstown rival RAM is the torque champion with its 6.7-liter Cummins I6 generating 1,075 pound feet (1,457 Nm). If the report is correct, GM will claim the title of the most powerful full-size pickup available. We all know how much automakers love power.

It’s a rumor that hasn’t been confirmed and GM doesn’t talk about it. It’s plausible, however, considering the Detroit automakers’ love for stealing best-in-class titles. These stats show GM surpassing Ford by 30 hp, and Ram by only 10 lbft. It sounds like an automaker would do it – just enough to take the top spot.

The updated half-ton Silverado has been revealed. The HD models will follow the lead for the 2023 model years. It is not yet clear if the 505-hp diesel option will be available, but GM is currently behind its diesel-powered competitors in overall power.
