According to reports, the next generation Volkswagen Jetta will be available in four body styles.
The all-new Jetta lineup, according to British magazine CAR will include a sedan and an estate, as well as a rugged Alltrack variant. These three body styles are approved, but a source close Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg headquarters says that the company is considering adding a fourth.
A production version of the New Midsize Coupe is the best option, but Volkswagen apparently has other plans. They are planning a two-door Jetta coupe. The Sirocco will be replaced by this affordable model. The next generation will be released in 2018.
The MQB platform will be used for the next Jetta. It will be longer than the current model and some of the extra length will go into the wheelbase to allow for more rear legroom. The power will be mostly provided by small turbocharged gasoline engines, but there will be a plug in hybrid version. The new model, despite its increased size, will be lighter and more efficient due to its smaller engine and lighter body.
The report speaks about a 2017 model-year. Expect the new Volkswagen Jetta in the second half 2016.
